Scottish Fisherman

Personal project, my take on this wonderful concept by Andreea Bardu https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Vgd3qn

Biggest difficulty was finding the balance between 2D and 3D. My initial goal was to come as close to the concept as possible, but I also still wanted to have that 3D vibe, so I didn't want to go fully handpainted with an unlit shader either. Ended up with something in between, focusing on capturing the feeling I like with the concept. Very fun to paint the texture with those bold brush strokes!

Learned lots :) I do like the bag and the fish. Made with Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop and rendered in Unreal Engine 5

Time to prepare today's haul, maybe fish soup for dinner?
